DESCRIPTION

· The FT245BM is the second generation of FTDI's USB FIFO IC, enhancing the FT8U245AM with added functionality and reduced external components.

FEATURES

· Single-chip USB to parallel FIFO bi-directional data transfer with rates up to 1M Byte/sec using D2XX drivers and 300 Kilobyte/sec with VCP drivers.

· Simple 4-wire handshake interface for easy connection to MCU/PLD/FPGA logic.

· Integrated USB protocol handling on-chip, eliminating the need for USB-specific firmware programming.

· Includes FTDI’s royalty-free VCP and D2XX drivers, reducing the need for USB driver development.

· Features a 384 Byte FIFO Tx buffer and a 128 Byte FIFO Rx buffer for high data throughput.

· Supports USB Suspend/Resume and high power USB bus-powered devices.

· Integrated level converter for interfacing with 5V and 3.3V logic, and a built-in 3.3V regulator for USB IO.

· Offers USB Bulk or Isochronous data transfer modes and a Bit-Bang Mode for general-purpose IO.

· Operates with a single supply voltage from 4.35V to 5.25V and is compatible with UHCI/OHCI/EHCI host controllers.

· USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 compatible with programmable USB VID, PID, Serial Number, and Product Description strings in external EEPROM.
