DESCRIPTION
· The MAX4000/MAX4001/MAX4002 are low-cost, low-power logarithmic amplifiers designed for RF power amplifier control in the 0.1GHz to 2.5GHz frequency range.
· They offer a 45dB dynamic range, making them suitable for wireless applications such as cellular handset PA control, transmitter power measurement, and RSSI for terminal devices.
· These amplifiers provide a wider measurement range and better accuracy compared to diode detector-based controllers, with excellent temperature stability from -40°C to +85°C.
· The MAX4000/MAX4001/MAX4002 eliminate the need for external attenuators by offering three different input voltage ranges, simplifying PA control-loop design.
· The MAX4000 features internal AC coupling with a 5pF capacitor and 2kΩ input resistance, setting the lowest operating frequency at 16MHz, while the MAX4001/MAX4002 require an external coupling capacitor.
· These devices include a power-on delay of approximately 5µs to ensure glitch-free output and are available in 8-pin µMAX and 8-bump UCSP packages.
· They consume 5.9mA with a 5.5V supply and have a typical shutdown current of 13µA.

· Complete RF-detecting PA controllers with a variety of input ranges: MAX4000 (-58dBV to -13dBV), MAX4001 (-48dBV to -3dBV), MAX4002 (-43dBV to +2dBV).
· Operates in the frequency range from 100MHz to 2.5GHz.
· Temperature-stable linear-in-dB response with fast response time of 70ns for a 10dB step.
· 10mA output sourcing capability with low power consumption of 17mW at 3V (typ).
· Shutdown current of 30µA (max) and available in 8-bump UCSP and small 8-pin µMAX packages.
