    Current regulating diodes (also referred to a constand-current diode, current-limiting diode (CLD), or current-regulating diode (CRD)) maintain a constant current based on their specified value regardless of voltage fluctuations. Current regulating transistors work by regulating its collector and emitter voltage to provide a constant output voltage.

    What are Diodes?

    Diodes are utilized to safeguard circuits by limiting voltage and converting AC to DC. They are primarily made from semiconductors like silicon and germanium. While diodes allow current to flow in one direction, the method of transmission varies. Different types of diodes exist, each designed for specific applications.


    Diode Symbol


    The standard symbol for a diode is illustrated above. In this diagram, there are two terminals referred to as the anode and cathode. The arrowhead indicates the anode, showing the direction of conventional current flow when the diode is forward biased. The opposite end represents the cathode.
