A PMIC Supervisors is designed to monitor and/or control voltage rails within a circuit with the ability to interface with a microcontroller to maintain certain power limits. The types of Supervisors are Battery Back-up Circuit, Monitor, Multi-Voltage Supervisor, Power Supply Monitor, Regulator/Supervisor, Reset Timer, Sequencer, Simple Reset/Power-On Reset, Smart On/Off Controller, System Manager, Voltage Detector, and Watchdog Circuit.

    Supervisors

    Types of Supervisors

    Battery Back-up Circuit

A battery backup is a feature in some power supplies that allows it to switch between the main power source and a battery. It provides emergency lighting when the power goes out. The battery backup ensures that gas turbine units stay connected to the power supply network without interruption.

    Monitor

    Types of computer monitors

CRT (cathode ray tube) monitors – These use CRT technology, which was once commonly used for making TV screens.

LCD (liquid crystal display) monitors – These are flat-screen monitors that use liquid crystals to display images.

LED (light-emitting diode) monitors – These are a type of LCD monitor that use LEDs for backlighting.

    Multi-Voltage Supervisor

What is a power supply supervisor?

Supply voltage supervisors are used to protect circuits like MPUs, DRAM, and other sensitive devices that can be damaged by high voltages or malfunction at low voltages. These supervisors can be specialized ICs, but they're often built into the same chip as a microcontroller.

    Power Supply Monitor

What power supply does a monitor use?

Most monitors use a DC power supply, but some, depending on the application, might use an AC power supply. "Line loss" or "voltage drop" refers to electrical current being lost because of inefficiencies or issues in the distribution system.

    Reset Timer

What does a reset timer do?

ResetTimer resets a timer even if it's disabled or suspended. When you use ResetTimer on a timer with an ATTR_INTERVAL of x seconds, it sets the interval to end x seconds from the time you call it.

    Sequencer

What is a sequencer in a computer?

In computer architecture and engineering, a sequencer or microsequencer creates the addresses needed to move through the microprogram of a control store. It’s used either as part of the control unit in a CPU or as a separate generator for address ranges.

    Simple Reset/Power-On Reset

A simple PoR (Power-on Reset) uses a capacitor charged through a resistor to measure a time period. During this time, the rest of the circuit stays in a reset state.

    Smart On/Off Controller

    System Manager

What is a System Manager used for?

With a Systems Manager, you can control various settings like server configurations, anti-virus definitions, firewall settings, and more.

    Voltage Detector

What is a voltage detector used for?

Voltage detectors are a quick and inexpensive way to check if there's live voltage in AC circuits, switches, and outlets before you work on them.

    Watchdog Circuit

What does a watchdog circuit do?

A watchdog timer (WDT) is a timer that keeps an eye on microcontroller (MCU) programs to see if they’re out of control or have stopped working. It acts like a “watchdog” over the MCU’s operation. An MCU is a small processor used to control electronic devices.
