DESCRIPTION

· The 74HCT9046A is a PLL with a band gap controlled VCO, featuring reduced input threshold levels for TTL logic interfacing and clamp diodes for voltage interfacing beyond VCC.

FEATURES

· Operates at 4.5 V to 5.5 V with low power consumption and complies with JEDEC standard no. 7A.

· Includes inhibit control for ON/OFF keying and low standby power, with a center frequency up to 17 MHz at 5.5 V.

· Offers two phase comparators: EXCLUSIVE-OR (PC1) and edge-triggered JK flip-flop (PC2) with no dead zone.

· Features a charge pump output on PC2, set by an external resistor, with a center frequency tolerance of ±10%.

· Provides excellent VCO linearity, low frequency drift, on-chip band gap reference, and glitch-free operation even at low frequencies.

· Ensures zero voltage offset with operational amplifier buffering and robust ESD protection exceeding 2000 V (HBM) and 200 V (MM).

APPLICATIONS

· Essential for FM modulation and demodulation requiring small center frequency tolerance.

· Suitable for frequency synthesis and multiplication with low jitter, such as in video picture-in-picture.
