DESCRIPTION

· The LM8330 is an I/O Expander and Keypad Controller designed to offload a host processor from scanning a matrix-addressed keypad and to provide flexible, host-programmable input/output functions.

· It features three independent Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) timer outputs for dynamic LED brightness modulation.

· Communicates with a host processor through an I2C-compatible ACCESS.bus serial interface, supporting Standard (100kHz) and Fast-Mode (400kHz) in slave mode only.

· All input/output pins can be used as inputs or outputs in a keypad matrix or as host-programmable general-purpose inputs or outputs, with any input pin capable of sensing hardware interrupts.

· The device follows a predefined register-based set of commands and requires a configuration file from the host upon startup to set up the hardware.



FEATURES

· Debounce time for reliable key event polling.

· Supports keypad matrices of up to 8x12 keys plus 8 special function (SF) keys, enabling full 104-key support.

· General-purpose I/O expansion on pins not used for keypad or PWM output.

· Operates on a 1.8V ±10% single supply with an on-chip power-on reset (POR).

· Robust IEC ESD protection: ±8kV direct contact on KPX[7:0] and KPY[10:0] pins.

· Internal oscillator, no external clock required.

· I2C-compatible ACCESS.bus slave interface with programmable slave address.

· Three host-programmable PWM outputs for smooth LED brightness modulation.

· Ultra-low power operation with automatic HALT mode: 1.5µA (typ.), active supply current: 23µA (typ.).

· Configurable wake-up from HALT operation.
