Overview

DESCRIPTION



· The ′F283 is a 4-bit full adder performing binary addition of two 4-bit words.

· It provides sum outputs for each bit and a resultant carry output from the fourth bit.

· Features full internal look-ahead across all four bits, generating the carry term in typically 5.7 ns.

· Can be used with all-active-high or all-active-low operands.

· SN54F283 operates from -55°C to 125°C; SN74F283 operates from 0°C to 70°C.



FEATURES



· Full-carry look-ahead across the four bits.

· Achieves partial look-ahead performance with the economy of ripple carry.

· Package options include plastic small-outline packages, ceramic chip carriers, and standard plastic and ceramic 300-mil DIPs.

· Adder logic, including the carry, is implemented in its true form.

· End-around carry can be accomplished without logic or level inversion.



APPLICATIONS



· Suitable for systems requiring partial look-ahead performance with reduced package count and economy of ripple-carry implementation.

· Ideal for military and commercial applications due to its wide operating temperature range.
