Overview

DESCRIPTION

· The SN54ALS138A, SN54AS138, SN74ALS138A, and SN74AS138 are 3-line to 8-line decoders/demultiplexers designed for high-performance memory decoding and data routing applications.

· These devices feature very short propagation delay times, making them suitable for high-speed memory systems with fast enable circuits.

· The Schottky-clamped system decoder introduces negligible system delay.

· The devices incorporate three enable inputs (G1, G2A, G2B) to simplify cascading and data reception, reducing the need for external gates or inverters.

· They are available in various package options, including Plastic Small-Outline (D), Ceramic Chip Carriers (FK), and Standard Plastic (N) and Ceramic (J) 300-mil DIPs.



FEATURES

· Designed for high-speed memory decoders and data transmission systems.

· Three enable inputs (one active-high and two active-low) simplify expansion and reduce external component count.

· Supports 24-line decoding without external inverters and 32-line decoding with only one inverter.

· Enable input can be used as a data input for demultiplexing applications.

· SN54ALS138A and SN54AS138 operate over the military temperature range of -55°C to 125°C.

· SN74ALS138A and SN74AS138 operate from 0°C to 70°C.
