DESCRIPTION

· The MAX6956 is a compact, serial-interfaced LED display driver/I/O expander with up to 28 ports.

· Each port is configurable as a logic input, logic output, or common-anode LED constant-current segment driver.

· LED drivers offer 16 current steps from 1.5mA to 24mA, suitable for discrete LEDs and CA numeric/alphanumeric LED digits.

· GPIO ports can be push-pull logic outputs or Schmitt logic inputs with optional internal pullup.

· Seven ports feature configurable transition detection logic for interrupt generation.

· Controlled via an I2C-compatible 2-wire serial interface with four-level logic for 16 I2C addresses.

· Available in various packages: 36-pin SSOP, 40-pin thin QFN, 28-pin SSOP, and 28-pin DIP.
