DESCRIPTION

· The SN54ALS299 and SN74ALS299 are 8-bit universal shift/storage registers featuring multiplexed I/O ports for full 8-bit data handling in a single 20-pin package.

· They offer four modes of operation: Hold, Shift Right, Shift Left, and Load Data, selectable via function-select inputs (S0, S1).

· Synchronous parallel loading is achieved by setting both S0 and S1 high, placing the 3-state outputs in high-impedance state and allowing data to be clocked into the register.

· Asynchronous clearing occurs when the CLR input is low, and outputs can be disabled by setting either OE1 or OE2 high without affecting data operations.
