DESCRIPTION

· The TCA6416A is a 24-pin device providing 16-bit general-purpose parallel I/O expansion for the I2C or SMBus protocol.

· It operates with a power supply voltage range of 1.65 V to 5.5 V on both the I2C bus side (VCCI) and the P-port side (VCCP).

· Supports both 100-kHz (Standard-mode) and 400-kHz (Fast-mode) clock frequencies.

· Ideal for expanding I/Os for switches, sensors, push-buttons, LEDs, fans, etc.

FEATURES

· I2C to Parallel Port Expander with a wide operating voltage range of 1.65 V to 5.5 V.

· Supports bidirectional voltage-level translation between 1.8-V, 2.5-V, 3.3-V, and 5-V I2C Bus and P-Ports.

· Low standby current consumption of 3 μA and 5-V tolerant I/O ports.

· Hardware address pin allows two TCA6416A devices on the same I2C/SMBus bus.

· Includes active-low reset input (RESET) and open-drain active-low interrupt output (INT).

· Features input/output configuration register, polarity inversion register, and internal power-on reset.

· Latched outputs with high-current drive capability for directly driving LEDs.

· Exceeds JESD 78, Class II latch-up performance and robust ESD protection.
