DESCRIPTION

· The TL16C552A and TL16C552AM are dual asynchronous communication elements with FIFO, compatible with IBM PC/AT.

FEATURES

· Incorporates two TL16C550 ACEs for enhanced bidirectional printer port functionality.

· Features 16-byte FIFOs to minimize CPU interrupts.

· Supports clock rates up to 16 MHz for operations up to 1 Mbaud.

· Independent control of transmit, receive, line status, and dataset interrupts on each channel.

· Includes individual modem control signals for each channel.

· Programmable serial interface characteristics for each channel, including 5-, 6-, 7-, or 8-bit characters; even, odd, or no parity bit generation and detection; and 1-, 1-1/2-, or 2-stop bit generation.

· Provides 3-state outputs for TTL drive on data and control bus for each channel.

· Hardware and software compatible with TL16C452.
