DESCRIPTION

· The UC3872 is a resonant lamp ballast controller designed for driving cold cathode fluorescent, neon, and gas discharge lamps.

· It features a resonant power stage that generates a sinusoidal lamp drive voltage, minimizing switching loss and EMI.

· Lamp intensity adjustment is achieved through a synchronized buck regulator.

· Suitable for automotive and battery-powered applications, it consumes only 1 µA when disabled.

· Includes soft start, open lamp detection, and smooth duty cycle control up to 100%.

· Other features: precision 1.2% reference, undervoltage lockout, and accurate frequency control.
