DESCRIPTION

· The bq24314 and bq24316 are integrated circuits designed to protect Li-ion batteries from charging circuit failures.

· They monitor input voltage, input current, and battery voltage continuously.

· In case of overvoltage, they immediately cut power by turning off an internal switch.

· For overcurrent, they limit system current and switch off if the condition persists.

· They also monitor die temperature and switch off if it becomes too hot.

· The overcurrent threshold is user-programmable and can be controlled by a processor.

· They provide status information about fault conditions to the host.
