    Ideal diode controllers

    Ideal diode controllers, also called OR'ing controllers, are devices designed to control an external pass transistor (usually a FET) in a manner that allows current flow in only one direction, similar to a rectifier diode but with significantly lower conduction loss. Among other applications, they are commonly used for providing reverse-flow protection in power supplies designed to be connected in parallel for sake of redundancy or increased output current capability.


    What’s an ideal diode controller?

    It’s great for replacing discrete diodes, especially in situations where you need protection from reverse polarity and want to block reverse current.

    What are controllers?

    In computing, a controller is basically a piece of hardware or software that handles and manages the flow of data between two things. Controllers can be microchips, cards, or separate hardware devices that control peripherals.

    How do controllers work?

    For example, a gamepad works by sending signals to the device it’s connected to. When you press a button or move something on the gamepad, it sends an electrical signal to the device, which then interprets it and performs the action in the game.
